This Privacy Policy explains what information American Tool Rental (“we,” “us”) collects through americantoolrentals.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. We run a local equipment rental business at 181 2nd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account, reserve equipment, request a quote, or contact us, we collect details such as your name, email address, phone number, company name and job title, billing address, jobsite address and jobsite contact, the type of work you do, how you heard about us, your tax-exempt status, and any notes you add. Passwords are stored in encrypted form. We do not collect full payment card numbers on the Site.
Information from Google sign-in. If you choose to continue with Google, we receive your name and verified email address from Google.
Information collected automatically. When you visit or sign up, we and our service providers may receive your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this to keep the Site working, understand traffic, and review new account requests for fraud.
Activity while logged in. When you are logged in to a member account, we record the pages you view, products you look at, searches you run, and when you tap to reserve, request a quote or call us. We use this to run your account, answer your requests and follow up on equipment you are interested in. We do not record activity of visitors who are not logged in.
2. How we use information
- To review and approve accounts, show pricing, take reservation and quote requests, and prepare invoices.
- To deliver and pick up equipment and to contact you about your rental, including by phone and email.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access, including checking whether account requests look unusual.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the Site, and to understand which equipment people look for.
- To comply with legal obligations and to enforce our agreements.
3. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run our business: with service providers that help us host the Site, send email, protect forms from spam and bots (such as Google reCAPTCHA), verify sign-in (such as Google Sign-In), look up approximate location from an IP address, and manage our dispatch and fleet records; with payment, delivery, and insurance partners involved in your rental; with professional advisers; and with authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and property. If our business is sold or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner. These providers may process information under their own privacy policies.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar tools to keep you logged in, remember preferences, secure forms, and measure Site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site, such as member login, may not work without them.
5. Your choices and access
You can review and update your account details at any time on the My Profile page after you log in. Staff are notified of changes, and we keep a record of earlier details on your account for our business and billing records. To ask us to delete your account or to have a question about your information, call 718-344-1474 or email info@americanrentalcorp.com. We may need to keep certain records, for example invoices and rental history, as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
6. Retention
We keep information as long as needed for the purposes above, including accounting, tax, safety, and legal requirements, and then delete or de-identify it.
Member activity records are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted automatically.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections and limited staff access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Site is intended for adults and businesses. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Links to other sites
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details below, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
