Which snake do I need?

  • Sinks and small drains: the drill snake or drain cleaner.
  • Bathroom and kitchen lines: the Z5.
  • Main sewer lines: the Model R, which handles 3 to 6 in drains and longer runs.
  • Pressure testing pipes, boilers or sprinklers: the Hydro-Test 6334-350 hydrostatic test pump, up to 350 PSI. It tests lines for leaks; it does not clear clogs.

Plumbing equipment FAQ

What is a hydrostatic test pump used for?

It fills a closed system with water and raises the pressure so you can check for leaks. Use it on piping, boilers, automatic sprinkler systems, fire hose and extinguisher tanks. The 6334-350 goes up to 350 PSI.

Is the test pump a replacement for a drain snake?

No. A snake clears a blocked drain. The test pump proves a pipe system holds pressure, usually before an inspection.

What does the test pump need on site?

A standard 120 V outlet (11 amps) and a water supply. It works best on a pressure feed, such as a hose bib, and also runs on gravity feed.

How do I know the cable length?

Estimate the distance to the clog or the cleanout, and choose a cable at least that long.

What if I am not sure of the drain size?

Call us and describe the line. We will match a cable.

Do you deliver snakes?

Yes, to all five NYC boroughs.
