Which welder do I need?

  • Power on site: if you have 120 or 240 V outlets, an electric stick welder like the Thunderbolt is simple and quiet. If you have no power, rent an engine-driven welder and generator.
  • Thickness: thicker steel needs more amperage. Tell us the material thickness and rod size and we will recommend a unit.
  • Welding plus tools: the Miller Blue Star 185 also supplies up to 6,200 W of generator power for grinders, lights and other tools.
  • Safety gear: rent or bring a welding helmet, gloves and leathers. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and clear flammables from the area.

Not sure which one to rent? Tell us the work height, the access (door width, elevator, stairs) and the surface, and we will match a machine. Call 718-344-1474 or request a quote.

Renting a welder in NYC

We rent by the day, week or month and deliver to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Engine-driven units need open air; never run them in a closed space. Call us for the right cables, leads and rods.

Welder rental FAQs

Do I need a generator to run a welder?

Only if you have no power. The Thunderbolt 160 plugs into 120 or 240 V. The Miller Blue Star 185 and the Bobcat 250 are engine-driven and make their own power.

What is the difference between stick and MIG welding?

Stick welding uses a coated rod and works outdoors and on dirty or rusty steel. MIG uses a wire feed and gas and is faster on clean metal. Our units are stick welders; call us if you need wire-feed equipment.

Can I use the Blue Star 185 as a generator?

Yes. It supplies up to 6,200 W of continuous generator power while it is not welding.

Are rods and cables included?

Tell us the job and we will include the leads, clamp and rods you need.

Can I rent a welder for a day?

Yes, daily, weekly and monthly. Call 718-344-1474 for availability.
