How a garbage chute system works

Chute sections are linked end to end and fastened to the building so debris drops from an upper floor into a container below. A hopper at the top gives a wide opening for loading, and a frame supports it. Because the sections stack, the system can be extended to the height of the building.

Planning a chute for your job

  • Height: count the floors and tell us the total drop, so we supply enough sections.
  • Where it ends: plan the container or dumpster location and the area below, which must be kept clear.
  • Attachment: chutes need to be secured to the structure at each section. Follow the instructions and your site safety plan.
  • Rules: NYC job sites have debris-handling and sidewalk shed requirements that depend on the work. Check with your site safety manager and the permits for the job.

Not sure which one to rent? Tell us the work height, the access (door width, elevator, stairs) and the surface, and we will match a machine. Call 718-344-1474 or request a quote.
