Which forklift do I need?

  • Weight and load center: pick a capacity above the heaviest load, remembering that capacity drops as the load center and the lift height increase.
  • Lift height: compare the maximum fork height with where the load has to go. A mast with a triple stage, like the Toyota 8FGU25, reaches higher while staying shorter when lowered.
  • Surface: pneumatic tire forklifts are for outdoor yards, gravel and rough pavement. For deep mud, slopes or lifting to a second floor, a telehandler is the better tool.
  • Space: check the width against gates and aisles. The GC030 is 37 in wide; the GLP080 is 55 in wide.
  • Operator training: OSHA requires forklift operators to be trained and certified by their employer.

Not sure which one to rent? Tell us the work height, the access (door width, elevator, stairs) and the surface, and we will match a machine. Call 718-344-1474 or request a quote.

Forklift rental FAQs

What forklift capacity do I need?

Use a capacity above your heaviest load, and check the rating at your load center and lift height. Call us with the load weight and where it needs to go and we will recommend a model.

Forklift or telehandler?

A forklift is for flat ground and a straight lift. A telehandler has a boom that reaches up and forward and has four-wheel drive for rough ground. See our guide on telehandler vs forklift.

Do I need to be certified to drive a forklift?

OSHA requires operators to be trained and evaluated by their employer. We explain the machine controls at delivery but cannot provide certification.

Are these forklifts for indoor use?

These are pneumatic-tire models made for outdoor and rough surfaces. Ask us about indoor options before you book.

Do you deliver forklifts?

Yes, to all five NYC boroughs.
