Dig depth sets how deep you can trench. Reach at ground level is how far the bucket extends. Figures come from the manufacturer; tap a model for full specifications.

Which excavator do I need?

  • Dig depth and reach: compare the depth of the trench or footing with the maximum dig depth, then check the reach needed to place the spoil or work from one spot. The E35 digs about 10 ft deep; the E55 about 11.4 ft.
  • Space to swing: the E35 has a zero tail swing, so the back of the machine stays within the width of the tracks. That helps next to walls, fences and in tight yards.
  • Weight and surface: operating weights run from about 7,700 to 18,800 lb. Check what the surface, deck or ramp can support, and what your trailer or truck can carry.
  • Power and force: the E85 produces 14,545 lbf of bucket digging force, the most in our fleet, for harder soil and heavier work.
  • Attachments: buckets, breakers, augers and thumbs expand the job. Ask us what is available for each model.

Not sure which one to rent? Tell us the work height, the access (door width, elevator, stairs) and the surface, and we will match a machine. Call 718-344-1474 or request a quote.

Renting an excavator in NYC

We rent by the day, week or month and deliver on a trailer to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Tell us about gate widths, sidewalks, overhead wires and underground utilities. Call 811 before you dig. Operators need to be trained on the machine, and we explain the controls and safety checks at delivery.

Excavator rental FAQs

What size excavator do I need to dig a foundation or trench?

Match the machine to the depth of the dig and the soil. For trenches and footings to about 10 ft, the E35 or E42 is usually enough. Call us with the depth, width and access and we will recommend a model.

What does zero tail swing mean?

The rear of the excavator does not swing out past the tracks as it rotates, so you can work close to walls and obstacles without hitting them.

Do I need to call 811 before digging?

Yes. Call 811 so underground utilities are marked before any digging.

Can the excavator fit through a gate?

Tell us the narrowest gate width and we will confirm the machine fits.

Do you deliver excavators?

Yes, on a trailer to all five NYC boroughs.
